Vanilla Eyes is the only track that looks on someone else other than me. Maybe I am looking at someone close, or the whole world, or just looking in a mirror but I don't look directly at myself. The song is about someone who looks at all the darkness in the world through a set of vanilla eyes. All of the misery gets drizzled in nectar and honey. This person is neither numb to pain nor ignorant of it, they simply coat it in sugar. Is this enlightenment to not feel real pain? It makes me cry to think that I must saturate a primal human emotion in all that is fake.
